YOU'RE WELCOME TO JOIN US ANY TIME ... BRING A FRIEND!  Learn more about our Abide7 youth group from  Pastor Thomson

Date: Monday, November 18 at 7:00 p.m.

Location: Presentation in church sanctuary; refreshments/games afterward in gym

Candid * Real * Current

Teens and tweens today are bombarded with cultural messages like, "it's just sex," "it's just a choice," or marriage is "just a piece of paper." Being a middle-schooler or high-schooler can be tough today. Being a Christian parent of teen can feel tough too. We get it. But you're not alone … so let's talk about it together.

Let's Talk

St. Paul's has engaged nationally-recognized speaker and author, Heather Ruesch, to present her "You Matter" program on November 18. Ruesch will speak candidly, but appropriately, about life issues, sexuality, and creating a culture of Biblical integrity. The presentation is designed for sixth- to twelfth-grade youth, for their parents, and interested adults in the congregation and Lutheran community.

Let's Get Real

The presentation will focus on real topics that real kids are asking about—like dating, relationships, modesty, and sex. We'll talk about God’s design for relationships, so you and your teen/tween can connect with real, faith-based conversations at this pivotal time.

Event Details

Join us at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Des Peres on Monday, November 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. After the hour-long presentation, we'll offer recreation time for kids and families in the gym with refreshments and blacklight nine-square-in-the-air games.

Calling all youth, adults and families: Help build a home! Host a VBS at the US/Mexico border! Share the love of Jesus!

Next summer, St. Paul's will host a trip to the Ysleta Lutheran Mission in El Paso, Texas, serving God's people across the border in Mexico. No building or VBS experience is necessary, just a heart to serve.

Meeting and information dates will be listed on our News, Events & Registration page here.

Introducing: "Abide 7" for Senior High Youth

Abide in Christ, Our Foundation

Why Seven?

  • 7 days a week
  • 7 points of connection
  • 1 Worship, 2 Foundation Bible Study, 3 School Visits, 4 Extracurricular Visits, 5 Open Youth Room, 6 Social & Servant Events, 7 Annual Mission Trip

At our fall 2019 rollout meeting, Pastor Thomson explained the vision of how Abide7 — St. Paul's reimagined youth ministry — will become "more relational, less programmatic" in focus.  LCMS research shows that when teenagers feel connected to trusted adults in church, they're more likely to remain in the church in college and beyond.

Dozens of our highschoolers met with Pastor Thomson to roundtable their ideas and explain from uniquely teen perspectives what they want and need to stay connected to their church and to Christ.

NEW! Open Youth Room

Highschoolers and parents: keep up with our schedule, youth events and activities on Instagram. At SeniorHighSPY we post photos, reminders of upcoming events, discussion topics and more.

As young adults, our post-Confirmation age youth are encouraged to participate in our inter-generational adult Bible studies, together with family or peers. On any given Sunday, you'll find high school students sitting together in a Foundation Bible class, actively involved, commenting and sharing in the discussion.

  • Our Foundation Bible study gets its name from the truth that Christ is our foundation in all things. The study focuses on exploring how our foundation in Christ transforms who we are, and how we live our lives.

High School Puppeteers

St. Paul's puppeteer troupe is a fun, high-energy and creative ministry for high school students.  If you've ever seen a St. Paul's H.I.S. Puppeteers performance, you know that this isn't your average puppet show!

Our practice schedule is teen-friendly with weekly summer practices, plus Sunday mornings in August and September. In the fall and winter, the troupe takes the show on the road to area Lutheran churches (usually monthly), sharing a Christ-centered Gospel message.
